Help Camp Thunderbird Get New Kayaks

Camp Thunderbird needs new kayaks to replace some of our older sea kayaks. We take kids out on sea kayak trips of 5 to 29 days every summer and we are in the process of replacing our fleet. We have been given a generous offer by Ocean River Sports, a locally owned and operated outdoor gear store, to help us with the purchase of two kayaks.

Saving the World One Plastic Bag at a Time

Somewhere in mid-April will mark a momentous day at Ocean River. On this day – still unknown – we will give out our last plastic bag. For a few years now Ocean River has been purchasing compostable plastic bags for you to carry your purchases out in. This we feel is an unnecessary step, as although they break down quicker, they still end up (unnecessarily) in the landfill.

Shapely Curves in the Outdoors

It’s got to fit right! For years women suffered the ill fitting design of men’s outdoor clothing when hiking, paddling or playing in the outdoors. The ‘unisex’ design of outdoor clothing was really a modified men’s style and that didn’t fit right for many women. Men don’t have the same shapely curves as women. Women’s hips don’t fit into men’s pants.
